Shock

I woke up this morning to find out my hens had all been killed by a fox last night. The plan is to take the coop in to the garage, give it a good clean and sand it down e.t.c then give it a stain just before spring so it will be as good as new to have new hens.

Clear Out !

Today I cleared the leaves from the trees and put them in the leafmould bin.I emptied all the pots and composted the old summer bedding and cleared the borders.I hope to overwinter the bedding begonias and store the Dahlia tubers.

Leafmould Bin

Today I started filling up the leafmould bin I finished building yesterday. It should be ready to use as a mulch at spring and fine potting compost next october.

Cactus Christmas Plant

This is my Christmas Flowering cactus which I bought a few months ago,it has been out all summer and now been re potted and taken in to the front porch and I'm told it will have pink flowers just before christmas.

Broad Beans

The broad beans have been in their modules now for a few days. I will plant out later on, as I'm not keen on sowing straight in, I think this is very messy and not all germinate e.t.c. By sowing in modules I will know what's germinated and what's not. Also mice can affect the broad beans.
